Audio code on casette deck
« on: 05 February 2011, 18:02:43 »

Hi all :)

I've been scurrying about the site before posing a simple question but couldn't find it exactly so here goes.

The reason why I am asking is this is because my car is imported from Italy and thus all manuals and everything is in Italian, which I don't speak a word of.

The problem is that my battery has been dead (human error) and thus the radio gone to safe-mode. After a long time of searching, I've found the radio-code from the prev. owner of the car.
Now I need to enter the bloody thing, only I cannot get to the code entering interface.

Now I found this guide:

ign on (vital)
radio off (vital)
Press & hold AS, turn radio on, release AS after bleep
enter code with 1 2 3 4
press AS to confirm, until bleep

---

...but it hasn't worked for me. I turn on the car, turn off the radio, hold AS down and turn the radio on again all the while holding down the AS button. After about a minute the tedium of nothing happening and me holding down the AS button just gets to be a wee bit too much and I let go and back to square one, rlly.

Now over the months I have managed to get in a few times to it, but I just don't know how I did it before!

The car is a 2000 Omega 2.5 V6 and the radio is with a casette deck; on the italian manual for it sporting the text 'Radio CAR 2004' if that helps anyone.

I hope some of you awesomely knowledgable people can help me with the right order of doing things so I can finally listen to radio again.

Thanks in advance, as always! :)

What does the display say whilst you are doing this?

If I just turn it on, it says 'SAFE'.

If I then press AS it says '6 SAFE' (I've managed to get in a few times, as I said with what I thought might be codes, hence down to six attempts. Nevertheless, I have the real code now)

If I
- Turn car on
- Turn off radio (it displays time/date)
- Press AS
- Turn on Radio (while keeping AS pressed down, but releasing the OI button after it turns on)
Display now reads '6 SAFE'
- I hold down AS and nothing happens. Trying to let it go still has it on '6 SAFE'

Hope that helps and thank you. :)

Because you have entered too many incorrect codes, you will now have to leave the radio and the ignition switched on for 2 hours before another code entry attempt is possible.

Alright, brilliant! Thank you, I'll give it a whirl and see if that won't do the trick! is that 'counter' reset every time I attempt to get to the code-screen or? and is that continuous operation 2 hrs or after a total of 2 hrs of usage?

but anyway thanks! much happiness! You rock! :y

The counter will only reset after a correct code has been entered - but each wrong code entry will result in you having to wait longer.

PS, the two hour wait with the ignition on is continuous.
