wipers not parking correctly any ideas plz
« on: 11 February 2011, 22:57:47 »

hi,

my wipers don't return level with bottom of windscreen anymore, i'm sure this happened when i turned them on during a bad frost without checking the blades were not stuck first.

they drop down below bottom of windsceen when they turn on for a second or on intermitent wipe etc, then finish approx 6" up above the bottow of windscreen. starting to look like a boy racer with the blades sticking vertical,

anyone got any ideas why this is happening.

thanks in advance

there was a very recent ost asking the same thing. From the motor is an arm that connects to the rest of the linkage. When the wipers were turned on with the blades frozen to the screen, the motor spindle has turned a little without the arm moving. Slcken the nut off, move the wipers/linkage to the correct position & retighten the nut.
I removed all mine, but other have done the jobe by just removing the scuttle for access.

just spotted the other post thanks buddy, will have a look tomorrow,

just to confirm that you adjusted yours outside the actual motor on the linkage? or in the motor?

if in the motor how did you do it without removing scuttle etc.

thanks rob

I removed the whole wiper linkage from my car. You slacken the nut holding the arm to the motor - the motor has a tapered spindle  -  reposition the linkage & that's it. If you remove the whole thing, you'll see that the arm should sit between >     < cast into the ally.  ;)

thanks for the pix and not far off the omega too, anyway nuff respex to you all as job was a success lol

13mm nut loosened and arm adusted and re tightened to secure.

real pig to get into unless you pull up the plastic trim above and it will give you just enough room to get the 13mm ring spanner in.

again thanks all
