NCDC2015 with a mind of its own?
« on: 05 May 2011, 17:08:24 »

My on/off button for the above seems to have a mind of its own sometimes you press it to turn on and nothing happens, sometimes it works fine, and sometimes when I want to turn it off and press the button it goes off but then comes back on again.
Sometimes i'll be driving along with it off and it will come on by itself!
Anyone else had this fault and is there a solution?

Not seen that before.

Trying removing power to it for a few hours (as in remove radio or disconnect battery), failing that, I'd then look at replacing the volume knob.

Needs front fascia removing, replace control knob and press on/off and you will see the "fault" Bit hard to explain but when you press the knob it acts on what I can only describe as a black rectangular "tower" of plastic. This works loose over time with the use of the on/off knob. Repaired mine with suitably placed tiny dabs of superglue. Job done, fault corrected

I very rarely switch mine off, after reading this it looks like I'm better off just leaving it on all the time. :P

If I want the stereo off I normally just turn the volume off as I like to keep the onboard computer data on and temperature reading etc..

Does the onboard phone still ring when the stereo is switched off?

Cheers will have a go at the fix you suggest.

I too normally leave it on with volume down if not wanting to listen but recently I suspect it has been turning itself on overnight while car locked up.

Don't know if phone works when radio off, I doubt it but will try it out of interest.

couldn't spot the "tower" of plastic but did find that the fascia wasn't seated properly, put it back together and seems ok.

phone doesn't ring when unit is turned off.
