Useless with ICE - help!
« on: 09 July 2011, 18:35:51 »

Hiya fellas,

As per title got an ICE issue of which i know bugger all about. My car has the CCR6000 head unit with a Sony CDX T-69 CD Autochanger in the boot. The changer is goosed and this may sound a right numpty question but do most CD changers have the same leads :-[ Mine has a red and a white jack plug with a 3rd round connector (looks like 3 contacts in the end). So really the advice i need is.....do i go to Hellfrauds, buy a like for like off fleabay or contact one of the guys breaking an Omega.

Cheersin advance for any help  :y

Ok,

A few questions

1 - are you sure its a CCR6000 as the model number does not appear to be correct?

2 -  How are you controlling the CDX-T69 ? Through an FM modulator, or do you have  a seperate interface box fitted?

3 - What is the fault you are experiencing ?

FYI, No ! - leads and protocols are very different, but would need to understand the setup you have before alternatives could be suggested

Hiya Dave,

1. Errrr yup, its wrong....should be a CCR600  :-[
2. Have no idea, its just the leads which connect to the CCR600.
3. It just will not work......will not eject CD magazine.

All i know is the 3 leads i have available - 1 red jack, 1 white jack and the 3rd round one with 3 contacts in it. Don't think i'm very good with the info you need - ICE??, i'm shite at it!

Thanks for the info re others multi-changers. :y

Ok, daft question, but has it ever worked, or is the car new to you and you are trying to use it for the first time?

I thought only (some) CDC2s and correctly configured CDC3s worked with CCR600  :-/

That could explain a lot ;)

I suspect you need a CDC2 (beware, there are different, incompatible types of CDC2 that look identical)

Ok,

My best guess is that the Sony Changer may not actually be connected to your stereo, and is left over from a previous install. There was an interface that went behind the head unit to allow use of a Sony changer on a Vauxhall head unit, but it was dropped virtually as soon as it was launched due to compatability issues - to find one nowadays would be like finding some rocking horse poo.

I reckon if you follow the Sony changer wires back through the car, they may not be connected to anything.

Suggest to go one of two ways from here - either find a Sony head unit and connect your changer to it, or find the correct version of Blaupunkt CDC2 changer and plug that in.

Should you actually find an interface box, then its almost certainly failed

Thanks for the advice, i'm guessing that if i need a CDC2 then i would also need a new head end connector and lead set?
