Most likely knacked, as the water falling on it (there is a drain hole right above it) is probably final straw...

There is a car horn that sits beside your Powersounder. You'll see it when you lift the scuttle to get at the Powersounder. That will sound if you have an activation.

The purpose of the powersounder is to sound if the alarm goes off, but the battery is discharged or disconnected.
Tbh, your insurance co. probably wouldnt be best pleased if they knew it was missing, although they also wouldnt be pleased if they knew your car caught fire because of it when you knew it was faulty, so your call whether or not you replace it. If you do replace it dont consider buying a used one. Iirc they are around £70 from VX.
Personally, I have removed it from every Omega Ive had, opened them up, removed batteries and chucked the whole lot in the bin.

By battery, I mean the car battery. The powersounder has its own internal batteries which allow it to sound in the absence of a charged battery on the car. :y
