Well some embarrassing red faced feed back feedback :-[ :o >:(. I got nowhere with the oil sensor (No cleaned) or the ignition switch all working ok so it had to be a wiring fault.
So I studied the Haynes wiring diagram with my magnify glass  ::) and noticed that both the oil sensor wiring and the line to/from the AT switch shared the same connecter "X2".
So I traced the line from the starter solenoid back thru the engine front wiring trunking and opps >:( the locking ring on one of the round multiplugs just below and NW of the battery had unlocked :-[ and the connection had been loose over the last few months and then had finally parted :-[.
The only good side for me was I did an oil change in both the AT and the Engine.

Many thanks for all your suggestions anyway  :y
