IACV

In the maint section on 2.0L IACV it shows the test of removing the small pipe and placing your thumb over it, if no suction juet blocked. Question how strong will the suction be? is it very noticable or or very soft?

Can check for you this evening, but I'm not sure how I'm going to describe the amount of 'suck'.  Been a while since the breather jet was cleared out on ours though, couple of years at least, so sure to be reduced in dia.  :-[.

Chances are it is at least partially blocked unless someone's cleaned it out recently.  Try sticking some wire through it and measure what will go.  IIRC you should be able to get something 1.6mm diameter through.

Well I just been out to check things for you on our 2.0.

Took home two bits of (copper) wire, 1.25mm dia and 1.57mm dia.  Couldn't get either through the breather jet (albeit in the dark, via open throttle), so there's a little job for me this weekend.  ::)

With small breather hose disconnected form camcover and engine running at fully-warmed-up idle there's quite a pronounced 'suck' on the end of the rubber hose, enough that you can lift the hose up just with the suck.
If you're stupid brave enough to stick your tongue on the end of the rubber hose, it's mildly alarming as it feels like your tongue tip is being taken into the hose a fair way.  ;D

I would speculate that if you are asking whether the suck is very soft, that your breather jet is very, but not completely, blocked.

Hey thanks for that, guess I will be doing the same job, as hardly any suck at all and def could not lift hose with it held to finger, that and starting to stall tells me it is cleaning time

Of course! Although - Friday evening might be a bit tight on time, due to darkness - I'm going to be doing my wishbones, droplinks and front Brakes on Saturday - if that goes well, I may have some time in the afternoon?  :y

Yep, sounds good to me. We'll get your plugs done Friday night, and work out a time for you to pop back for a total breather clean.

Let's be honest, you're only a couple of miles away  ;) :y
