Another rant - train issue tonight
« on: 24 November 2011, 23:21:39 »

Following has gone to Southwest Trains, Passenger Focus and (Sir) Brian Souter - Stagecoach

"Re. 21.12 hours tonight Waterloo to Farnborough. Yet again another problem on trains via Surbiton.

4 yobs got in one totally drunk carrying a full pint of beer in a proper glass which he placed on a table in front of a lady. He also put his feet on the seat next to the lady and proceeded to exchange expletives with his yob friend a few seats down – thankfully they got out at Surbiton.

The guard was nowhere to be seen at all during the journey and did not announce his location.

No tickets were checked.

I asked the lady who also got out at Farnborough Main if she had been uncomfortable with the situation and she had been and had sent a text to her husband saying she was worried. I recommended she email you but explained that you would probably do nothing as per usual.

What are you people doing – there is no added protection at times of high risk like this.

Your guards might not as well be on the train – you operate a disgusting service which has total disregard for passenger safety.

I have told you time and time again – tighten up on the Surbiton trains – put police on at nights for a time and enhanced revenue checks as deterrent.

I suggest you run the CCTV for the 3rd car from the rear of the train in question.

No doubt you will have misplaced the CCTV in line with your usual inept mode of operation.

Whilst this type of service is delivered – vast amounts of cash are being paid to shareholders and Sir Brian Souter.

The whole thing stinks"

This ranting business is tiring but you feel just slightly better after even if you know the t*****s you send it to will just make it disappear into the ether with talk of meetings with guard manager etc who I have suggested be sacked several times in the past as the guards clearly take no notice of her. I'll be ok in a minute.

Need to draft in Seth on a bit of a sabbatical to sort it out, IMHO. :y

You should move to Tunbridge Wells. Then you could be the real genuine "outraged of Tunbridge Wells."  :D ;D ;D

I think it was actually "disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" - but I take your point. The train service from there is worse than SWT.

Keep me out of this dear boy! :-\

However, in the true spirit of the forum, I'll try and put things into perspective here for a fellow member.

Can I ask the OP a few questions firstly please?
1. Where did the 'anti-social' quartet actually board the train?
2. What was the train formation? (ie; how many carriages?)
3. Length of the journey time?
4. Was the train DOO? (ie; driver only-operated)

;D ;D Are you sure PS?

That's what I thought when I started to have a regular rant - now?, I'm a seething bed of outraged indignation hunting down the droogs that seem to pervade all areas of public life and commercial services.

I've just had a go at that weasel Nick Clegg for the effrontery of calling himself a public representative with the sole interests of the people of this nation at heart.

I feel a bit better - but I need more. HahahahahahahahaH

I have started to complain regularly about poor service, anywhere, poor hotels and travel on the EastCoast mail line. Every week a major problem occurs.

One question: Am I getting old and grumpy >:( >:(

Or it could be that the British people have slipped into accepting low standards all round, whilst paying through the nose for it :'(

1. London Waterloo

2. 8 cars (2 units of 4) Desiro so all connected and a guard's office in the middle of each 4
On later trains the guards hide - not in their offices but in the empty drivers cabs at each end of the 4 cars

3. Journey time Waterloo to Surbiton 20 minutes, journey time to Farnborough about 50 minutes (some like this train run much slower at night than in day wth extra stops)

4. All trains have guards on this route
