Engine Oil

Hi all,

I have a mv6 2.6 and just checked the oil befor a run at weekend and found no oil on dipstick !
not sure whats happened here as i never had a problem before and never lose any oil or water.
no oil light on or strange knocks or rattles
can anyone tell me what grade of oil and how much i need

gm's own 10/40 semi synth---full system takes 5.75 litres
strange you havent had an oil low message that needs looking into  ???

Keep an eye on it. Early 2.6s can suffer valve stem seal issues. Maybe this explains the consumption. Do check it for obvious leaks as well, though.

As said, you should have had an oil level warning.
