Author Topic: Can I use heat gun to remould my bumper grill (black plastic)  (Read 1352 times)

Hi All, hope you're well.

I note that the black grill on the front bumper can't be removed and replaced due to it being welded at the bottom directly to the bumper.

So, as mine is all bent am i safe to use my heat gun to heat the plastic and bend back in to shape? I thought I'd check as I don't want to obviously cook any engine parts.

What do you think?

Pretty certain it can be removed. A heat gun could be used to try to straighten it but may be better to remove the bumper first.At the very least have a close look whats behind the area before using the heat gun. ;)

thought they just clipped in  :-\  you have to remove bumper though to access them  :y

I am going to get the bumper off as I've never done this before and make sure I can do that ok and then sort out ;)

once i've removed the bumper will it still be connected to the fog lights? i cant see on the guide where this mentions it?

Yep - just a little electrical connector to unplug at each side. :y...........you got headlamp washers ?
Might be easier to unplug the foglights first if you can reach the connectors ok.

So is mine but it has washers.....and HID,s and memory leather interior and........Elite alloys (when winters gone). ::) ;D

where the headlight trim is secured by the ''hook''... where is this situated. can't really tellfrom the pic? :)

just ease off from the inner of the car to the outer  :y
