Thanks, Insurance company!
« on: 14 December 2011, 10:15:52 »

My Insurance on the 3.2 MV6 was around £650 for the last year.

I have been unfortunate enough to have two NON FAULT accidents, whereby I was hit by someone else, and made a full recovery of any losses.

My renewal? £1400.

Company won't budge on that. I've shopped around, and the best I can get it for, is £1200.

I am 27, clean license, no fault accidents, and 7 years NCD.

What a rip off. I'm going to have to pay it though!

Yep. Bunch of scrotes. Similar happened to me, although I managed to claw it back by shopping around this time.

Apparently, having non-fault accidents "indicates that I might be at risk". I daren't tell them that I also walk under ladders, and that I spilt a load of salt the other day whilst filling up the water softener and I couldn't be bothered to chuck it over my shoulder. ::)

They must have that Russell Grant bloke working out the renewal premiums. ::)

How they can justify that increase is beyond me. Peoples driving careers are often wrecked through no fault of their own but by the incompetent Driver who decides to drive in to them. If i asked them 'So how am i more of a risk because someone hit me?' I cant envision any logical response. Clearly an excuse to obtain more money for the same cover.

Im similar to James. Nearly 27, 4 year NCD, No points. My insurance is currently £520 per year. If they quoted me that it would most likely be bye bye omega. :'(

Exactly what I asked mine, and, from their response, the only logical conclusion I can draw is that they are superstitious, hence my withholding any encounters with ladders, lest that paint a bad picture of me. ;)

Mine is up for newreal next month so I started looking online.  Coincidentally my current broker called me up and said that their best quote was £977, a £300+ increase on last year.  Is this because of the LPG?  I asked.  Most likely, was the response.

When I told them that online they were currently quoting me £580 through a price comparaison website I asked where the other £400 was going.  Is that your commission, I asked.  Erm no, was the reply.  Can you explain the difference?  At which point I could tell she was squirming.  I'll give you until the 23rd to find me a better deal, I said and rung off.

I like the idea that I could be paying less next year than I did this year, that could be 3 bits of good news in a week!  :D

While not excusing it, I can understand their thinking.  If a person has had 2 accidents in a year, whether their fault or not, it may indicate that they tend to use the car in places that have a higher risk of accidents.  This would indicate that they are therefore a higher a risk.

As I say, I'm not excusing it but they are in the business of assessing and quantifying risks and if they see an opportunity to cover the risk they are going to take it.

More than 1.3m motorists have been forced off the road over the last 12 months by rising motoring costs, according to a new report.

The survey said drivers spend more than £1,720 a year fuelling their cars, an increase of 23 per cent year-on-year.

And the findings by Sainsbury’s said a 30 per cent increase in insurance premiums has delivered a double-whammy leading to one in 30 drivers has giving up their car

That seems expensive, is it fully comp?

My facelift 3 litre elite is only £400, that's no points, 29, 5 years ncd. It's only tpft though

now you will understand when i tell you that a couple of weeks ago i had a silly bint drive into my van and dented  the side just behind the door, after exchanging details she told me that she had,nt seen me (its a mercedes LONG wheelbase van ffs)and admitted liability, anyways after pondering for a while i let it go simply because i did not want the agg of having to admit on six insurance policies that i had had a non fault accident.it was cheaper overall to just let it go.

Perhaps you should sue the 2 accidents for the increase in premium.

What a sad place this country is getting. :'( :'( :'(

Imo, if it a small scrape and one of you admits liability, your better off sorting it out between yourselfs  ;)

Just make sure you both show a couple of forms of ID and your insurance tickets just in case  ;)

Might be a little naughty but imo its worth it in todays climate  ;)

Did it myself about 10 years ago.
Parked my car up to go and watch footy.
Came back to find the window smashed in and my tools missing.

Jumped in with steam coming out of my ears and drove like a total c*ck into the back of a retired copper  ::) :-[ :-[

And my team rather lost too  >:( >:(
