Gearbox Oil Fillers
« on: 07 December 2011, 21:26:09 »

Are the 500ml syringe type fillers any good for filling the autobox back up after a fluid change ?

or about 6' of plastic tubing & a funnel  ;). 'Screw' the tubing into the fill/level hole & fill via the engine bay. Just make sure the tube doesn't come out of the side of the gearbox though, apparently you'd get ATF all over your drive.  ::)

The gearbox breather pipe, oft` referred-to behind the plenum, intrigues me; depending on how, where and what it`s connected-to at the bottom :-\......what a good place it might be to stick that funnel? :-\
....but only an idle musing based on ZERO knowledge! :-[

Damn good idea about the long peice of pipework and a funnel. :y :y :y

Don,t suppose there is a threaded adaptor that would screw into the gearbox plug that had a spigot on the end to allow a piece of pipe to be pushed on ;D ;D

Maybe this would be a usefull peice of kit that could be fabricated by somebody capable and then shared around the forum when required.
Just a thought  :)

Wind some insulating tape around the end of your pipe, then some PTFE tape on top so that it's slightly larger than the gearbox filling/level hole. Screw it in and there's your adaptor!  :) :y

Used both the above and both methods work great!

I used one of them squeezy bottles what you use for refuelling radio control car fuel tanks lol great to top up but maybe a bit long winded and slow, could only squeeze out 2/3rds out at a time and it only holds 700ml or so...

What's the crack with them garden speakers do you mean them pump action pressure weedkiller type ones? Didn't think of it at the time lol

SPRAYERS not speakers lol, could'a just moved the cursor and correct it but after proof-reading, I wanted to leave it so to highlight the flaws in Apples 'auto correct' text feature!  :D

I've used the hose/funnel idea, but its difficult to tell when you have enough in, so tend to stick to garden sprayer now.
