Drivers door lock barrel cover?

Evening all!

Some of you may know about my recent step-mum-key-loosing-debarcle ..

Well looking at the car today, I notice there is a grey circle around the lock barrel - when I'm sure the tasty gold colour went all the way up to the silver lock. Has the locksmith lost this bit or broken it or am I imagining that it was colour-coded before?!  ::)
