Pollen filter 1996 Omega Elite
« on: 08 January 2012, 17:44:02 »

Hi went to change the pollen filter today due to misting issues inside car only to discover it was missing!!!!!
Using a Haynes manual for directions on changing it, I lift the flap on the scuttle panel but then there are no clips to open up pollen filter holder all I see is the intake into the heater box there appears to be no holder for the pollen filter???
Does anyone have a few pictures that I can compare to mine and also is there a pollen filter holder that has possibly been removed ?

Thanks

It should be lift up flap (I have to remove a bit of trim), unclip and pull out.

There are 2 types of pollen filter also. The facelifts have a carbon pollen filter whereas the pre facelift have a standard one.

When you open the scuttle panel there is no obvious 'holder'. The filter is housed vertically on the screen side, but should be clearly visible. The holding clips are at the top, one on either side, and open outwards. Bit late for photos now, but if no one comes back with some I'll take some tomorrow.
When you put your hand in the opening, can you reach towards the screen?

Possible (and quite common) for the clips that retain it to be broken and missing. To quote tunnie, "Gaffer Tape" ;D

@Jonny2112 There is just a huge cavity I can reach right in towards screen and as mentioned I can see the inlet to the heater box, which I imagine is we're the filter should be located ?

You were right then pal, sounds like its definitely absent. Don't see why someone would remove it without replacing - not that expensive  :-\
Can you see the framework for it ok?
