As Omegatoy says, vac pump bolted to front of camshaft, and the big vac pipe often breaks.

The thing is as flat as a witches tit until chipped, which will finish off the gearbox. Shove a manual in it, TD + auto isn't satisfactory IMHO.

Where does the big pipe generally break... have had an initial look, and all looks OK...

Yep, plan is AR35. Where can I get her chipped? Does a chip make a big difference / noticible?

Also - what's the preferred option with the viscous fan on these... leave them in place, or ditch in favour of an electric one..?

And... I've only had a quick look in darkness, but do you REALLY have to take the lower tray off, to get to the engine sump drain bolt?  ::)

in my experience, its not the big pipe that breaks although it can do, its the connector in the middle of it that has 2 vac pipe take offs, ham fisted people often break these without knowing iot!! vac leak is small but insistent and you ususally only get 2 or 3 goes at the pedal before the vac is exhausted!!, and no you dont have to take the undertray off, should be a removeable plate in the middle just under the sump bolt!!

As OT says, where the 1 way valve is.

Yes, undertray off for coolant drain... ...thats why my undertray is still in loft of my garage ::)

Viscous off, works the I/C fan harder, keeping it free.

Don't piss around with AR35, put a manual on it. As much as I hate the Omega manual, and as much as I like the Omega Auto, the TD just isn't suited to it.

My Omega (boohoo) has just gone to the Spanish recycler. I received the princely sum of 100 euros for it less all the parts I could remove. It had a lovely new low mileage AR35 that was put in only a few years ago. I did explain this to the guy behind the counter but I guess by now it is an ingot.......

manual it is.........

So .. the autobox from this one to the 3.2, manual box into this one ???  Best of both worlds ??? then find an AR35 and put that in the 3.2 at leisure .. :)

Youll still be ribbing me when you're old and grey, won't you Nige? Oh, hang on a minute...  :P :D :y

In all seriousness, I'm not going to faff around putting an AR25 on the MV6. It will eat it for breakfast  ::) :y
