brand if v6 locking kit
« on: 03 September 2012, 15:20:03 »

Hi all. What's the best brand if v6 engine lock tool as I'd like to get hold of one for doing mine but I seem to find mixed results on the web about the Sealy vse 130 having crank lock issues. What's best or could I borrow someone's.

Thanks

Mark

You are welcome to borrow mine + the large spanner needed. Not too far away either  :y

PM me if interested.

I've got the Sealey kit. Used it again yesterday on my 2.6.

When I first bought it the arm on the crank lock missed the water pump so I had to bend it slightly to make it engage properly (which didn't instill confidence :().

The crank lock tool does feel a bit sloppy but I checked the timing several times and the marks on sprockets 3 & 4 lined up with the spectacle tool every time.

I use an SP kit, which seems to be good quality (and robust - its been heavily used)

Pm'd thank you all for response guys it's much appreciated.

I wanted to double check the kits as you said above the crank worried me as I don't want my timing cocked up just by lack of tools on my part. I've retimed a 4 pot by eye before now but I don't want to risk it With this many pulleys
