also no heat in cabin
« on: 05 February 2012, 19:26:55 »

Hi guys have just read the other posts about the heat problem in the cabin. I also have no heat in the cabin. Its warm but not hot when the control is set to hi. The temp gauge goes up to normal. Could this be a blocked matrix or maybe a faulty HBV? Have just ordered some descaler powder to have a go at descaling the matrix next weekend. When i do this i am going to need some new coolant addative. Any suggestions on the one to get and from where? Thanks :)

Both pipes to matrix hot? You can pull vac pipe off top of HBV (and plug pipe) and see if temp of heat increases. Re; coolant "additive", GM`s own anti-freeze

In your case ... Skurray's at Hillmead ... :)   Do you have a Trade Club card ???  If not we need to meet up and I can purchase on your behalf ....  :) .. but that wouldn't be until Thursday ...due to work although the savings on antifreeze is not great .. on oil however ......   :)

Yours is a mini facelift so same dual climate as my 1996 car. I had same issue and cured it by disconnecting climate panel from its 2 plugs then plugged it back in then repeated process, left 20-30 minutes between unplug and replug and it cured mine.

I'm around Friday morning, going away Friday afternoon around 3 ish .. only takes me 10 minutes to get to Skurray's from here (Wootty B) I'll PM you my number and we can sort something out.

Lemforder wishbones are best from All German parts IMHO ...

http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/ourshop/cat_277900-Steering-and-suspension-components.html

presently at £65.36 each ... so £130.72 for a pair .. and that means you don't pay any postage ... :)

Been out sorting out the heater today. I flushed it through each way a couple of times and got quite a bit of gunk out. Then filled the matrix with citric acid (kettle descaler) and left for 30 mins. Reflushed both ways a couple more times. I put it back together refilled with anti-freeze warmed the car up put the climate control on high and left it running for 20 mins.
Problem solved. The heater is now blasting out hot air not just luke warm.  :y
