« on: 26 February 2012, 21:59:18 »

Hi guys,

Thinking of fitting an LSD to my omega but just wondering will it change the handling or driving at all?

Cheers

it'll be better when pulling out than it is currently unless you like spinning a wheel pointlessly lol, it'll take off quicker when needed but apart from that i found it the same when i had my ex plod with lsd, one other thing is that it takes more to get it sideways so easier to overcook i would say but not had much sideways practice with lsd recently lol!

Under normal driving and the LSD has not kicked in, then drive is as normal, handy for getting you out of the mud or snow or in the wet, under full load pedal, quiet easy to write the car off if you don't know what your doing. Just remember those country lanes are not as wide as a race track!

it all depends on what you're using it for....

it will take off easier without breaking traction.

it will make it easier to get sideways ( quite a bit easier actually )

it will make the car seem to enjoy cornering "deeper" if you know what I mean.

when you're not pressing on, you won't tell

just make sure you get a good unit as my lsd is breaked! "explod very well worn out & my right boot & original oil prob didnt help it...?"

its snatching under full power or playing up going from been a lsd to open diff & then locking again!

but when its working drives great! many a rounderbout in my old mig i was smoking an inside wheel on a rounderbout or pulling out from a junction etc but with the lsd just good traction!!  unless u want it to slide then both rears loose traction!!

(be carefull tho you need to get use to it or you WILL bend your motor)

Dont just buy a unit blind either take off the back plate to check its correct,

im thinking of welding a 2nd hand unit up until i can get my lsd fixed or replaced, im use to driving a car with a welded diff but they do chew up driveshafts on omegas im told by a mate who drifts his regular! but with a huge boot & my tools i be keeping a spair pair!!
