Not particularly bothered about Wim as I've lost faith slightly, but if there's enough of the usual suspects heading over...

Christmas takes priority that weekend though, depending on final dates. ;)

Balls, I'm going to miss this by 2 days.

It would be best opportunity for them to straighten the steering wheel..... ::)

It doesn't matter either way, I have a cunning plan for my return in October.... :y

So do I, you can come and show me how to re-gel coat a fibre glass roof section of my train set.

I only know how to use epoxy, not poly.  Besides getting poly to stick to poly is not easy, whereas epoxy sticks and wont come off.  The only problem is UV and degradation.  Happy to come down at some point if you need but ike I said it wont be until mid Oct.

Indeed it does ;) :y

Much as I want to come over I do have to be sensible... It's not exactly "Around the corner" for me ;)

Must have been 15 consecutive visits, for various unrelated reasons, where the steering wheel was never straight. I was given all the excuses under the sun as to why, the main one being,"collective play across the steering mechanism" this was banded repeatedly so i insisted they show me this play.
Wheel  baring was all they could find. Replaced. No different. I spent a good while checking and double checking for faults, but as the steering wheel had been offset for so long I sort of got used to it.
I then changed cars to my current one. Changed suspension, changed this and that, set up, sw still pissed. So asked them "Guys, wtf is going on with this steering wheel business...?"
They said bring it back, which I did, and miraculously they now had the facility to heat up rear track rods. Adjusted the rear toe to within limits, as this was always an excuse that the rear track rod was seized and couldn't be adjusted.
Track rod heated, adjusted, rear end was now set perfectly according to them, and so it proved on the read out. Ok, set the front. Drove away, and by now I know where to drive the car, when leaving wim, to check the steering is straight. Dadaaah. Perfectly straight steering.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm pleased they sorted it in the end, and they are still the premier set up company to recommend IME. But, for a company claiming such precision and quality, I am miffed they bullshited the fact that they didn't have oxy to heat track rods, and sent me off replacing and search for parts that might have play, when the fault was on a Differant axle altogether.

Not rather impressed. Tbh!

But the cars drives lovely now. :)

If I can make it I will, but things are a bit tight as we'll be off to France on the following Friday.

As regards to WIM, geometry set up first class, but on two diffenent Omegas, failed to get the steering wheel straight.

It's break all to do with the steering box mate!

And from experience, if you want to know where to check the steering wheel is straight, turn left at the roundabout outside your place in Chesham. Up the hill. If its not straight in the first 100 yards of that hill, it's out. Got wise to that one!

Calm down, i was being polite... It is to do with the steering box because between the front wheels we can get about a degree of movement, and if you go up that hill the steering position can be one way and the other way down the hill, been there done that.

Strange that we only get this problem with cars that have a steering box? Hence the reason why we ask the customer to set the steering position.

You did read the bit about adjusting the rear track rod, right?

And historically I'd suggest not bothering one of those baffle with science quotes from the Wim web site. I dont buy it.

We all make mistakes, I accept that, but if we're going to see corporate BS to try and defend the indefensable I don't think members here will be impressed by that at all.

You'd be better admitting an over site on oxy bottles and leave it there. I wasn't born yesterday.

But over all it's no massive issue, no tyre wear has occurred etc, but honesty is best policy IMO.
