we holidayed in the red sea a few years ago during ramadan and the waiters didnt seem to be bothered by our eating breakfast or consuming alcholic drinks in front of them

What a joke!

If I went to a predominantly Muslim country I'm sure I'd see things that offend me. Would I expect them to change their ways just because I was there? Why should it be any different when muslims live in a predominantly christian / secular country?

This is how we do things here. If you can't deal with it ..... Go forth and multiply. >:(

Yep I checked the date as well ;D

- so no ham sandwiches because it will offend Jews
- in fact no meat at all because it offends veggies
- no eating at all in Lent
(-only mince pies at Christmas :))
etc.....


what a lot of tosh.

Actually I think this is doing the Muslims population no good at all.  I'm sure 99% of those working in a secular environment have no issue at all, but this kind of nonsense just stirs up a hostile feeling to all Muslims regardless of their views.

Why don't we all break off from this country and just leave it to the Muslims and other ethnic communities and they can do what they bl00dy well like then!! >:( >:(

Sorry, I'm not a racist but I'm pi$$ed off the way we bend over backwards in this country to accommodate customs and traditions that are nothing to do with our own customs and traditions.

Would we get the same treatment in their countries? Ha ha.....no way!!

Seriously here in Ramadan in small cities you cant find even an open restaurant unless its a turistic zone..And many people like me really suffer...

In job, many people do stay hungry (nearly 60-70 %)..And when I smoke and eat believe me its not comfortable..

Personally I'd look upon eating in front of people fasting as fun - if they are hungry they can eat!!!!
