1OO ft  :o dam hadnt planned on that deep . Same thing as building an inspection pit then as you need to consider many things .

Btw there's no immediate air threat that i know of  ;D :y
Doesn't matter how deep you go.
You wouldn't be able to surface for at least 50 years after a nuclear strike, and the surrounding area would still be f**ked for a good 50 years after that......would you really want to be alive for the aftermath?

Yeah id have loads of free spares for the elite  :y
Assuming the car would still be present afterwards, and also assuming the resultant EMF didn't kill the electronics, where do you plan on getting fuel & oil from;)

Many years ago, I was security cleared and took part in an end of the world scenario.

It was most depressing as by the end of the week a few of us ended up really deep in a depressing facility I never knew before existed in a city centre. Enough food and water etc to last a long time (but not 50 years ;D).

My main concern would be if the area suffered a direct hit you would be buried alive. I would rather go in the first strike .  :y

I remember my mate getting a copy of that in the T.A. years back. Laughed at the "defecation procedure" back then. ;D IIRC, you got some special talc to decontaminate your brown eye with afterwards? :-\

Remember my first gas mask test at Swinderby.

All of into the chamber.
Deep breath, close your eyes and change the filter only to find the rockape had nicked the spare out of your sack  ::)

The t*sser then thinks it good fun to make you recite your name, rank and service number  ::)
Your number backwards and then it was question time about your sister including the size of her tits and if she shagged  :o ;D

After you had half drowned in your own snot, you was kicked outside, told to remove your mask and then made to run into the wind to remove any gas clinging to your noddy suit  ;D ;D

I'll say one thing, CS is far better at clearing your sinuses then bloody lemsip  :y :D :D

That was 28 years ago and I wouldn't swap it for the world  ;D ;D ;D

I personally have always been interested in all this dooms day stuff and wanting to survive the aftermath. Ive spent countless hours trawling the net on info about bunkers, pill boxes, panic rooms, safe rooms, secret underground passages, air raid shelters ect ect, i started getting into it because i live about 0.5 mile from the perimeter of the former RAF Greenham Common in Newbury and although they have ripped up the runway, the control tower still stands and the missile bunkers are still there and so are some hangers which apparantly still guarded by security, so i know where ill be heading if there if this country comes under any threat.

This is a good read, enjoy.........................

All depends where the Ground Zero's are....

Alas we are now in a worst state of prepardness for a NBC attack on any part / area of this Country than we have ever been since the start of the cold war.

One of my hobbies is to visit ROC posts as I travel around the country, really interesting to research what was going on behind the scenes in this country - UKWMO, ROC Posts, Group Controls, RGHQ, ECN, Handel, Raynet support, Corsham/Turnstile/Subterfuge etc etc.

Worth reading Attack Warning Red, Cold War Secret Nuclear Bunkers (Nick Mccamley) and War Plan UK (whihc was incredibly accurate considering it's publishing date.
