after speaking to martin at the weekend and also reading the haynes i've realised i been over inflating my tyres

i always went on the max pressure on the tyre (51 psi). i now got 34 psi in each tyre. feels soooo much better

Should have been great for economy, but not for tyre life.  Bet you've got a narrow band in the middle of each tyre that is worn far more than at the edges?

I run mine at 34 psi,although iirc the factory figure is 32.5 ?

I tend to run 35 on the front, 38 on the rear (although mine's an estate) to allow for the extra weight of LPG

hot weather (above 30 celcius) long trip no more than 30 psi.. daily city driving 32-33 psi.. miggy in rest mode 36-37 psi..
 
and 51 psi..     as AndyB says how you didnt bounce off from the road and end up in a field, I'm surprised

reminds me of a courier driver who, due to his reputation, always got the knackered van. mk 2 astra 1.7 d. he got fed up with topping it up so put the whole 5ltr s of oil in.

We drained 9.5l out of a 1.2 Corsa yesterday; took over an hour for the poor thing to stop smoking.
