Z14XEP (Astra 1.4 Petrol) 2006 Oil Starvation
« on: 09 August 2012, 11:35:51 »

Hi old friends!

Looking for some help with an Astra 1.4 (Z14XEP) 2006 plate.  Just replaced head gasket on this engine and now the head is not getting any oil.  Any idea or pointers to what could be causing this?  Oil pressure relief valve?  Galleries blocked?  Was fine before the replacement so not sure what's happened.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks.   :y

Also, no fault codes stored just oil pressure light lit.

Thanks Henry,  It is beginning to look that way!  Thanks for the advice.  Had the sump off and was pretty caked so we'll see what happens when it goes back together.  I seriously hope the oil feed ain't the culprit...  :y

Oil pressure switch is on front of the head, have you tried removing it and cranking over to see if any oil present?

Sorry for the delay, spent a fair chunk of time getting this car running again.  It was gasket sealant blocking the oil galleries and water jackets.  Got it all back together and then it ran like a bag of spanners.  Chained chain and tensioner and everythings hunky dory now.  Thanks for your help Henry and sorry for not getting back sooner.  What a horrible little engine to work on!  :y
