if you didnt say 1 TB I would recommend solid state disks.. they are less prone to failure unless you cook them in microwave

Nah, for this scenario, I'd go spinning platters. I'm not against SSDs, use them myself (not on OOF though), but wouldn't trust them for long term storage.

although I'm using them on a bussiness server (standard commercial types ) with raid conf and never witnessed any problem within these years (approx 3) , there is another type that HP recommends for servers but pricewise they are 6-7x times  expensive
