When I was a contractor, every little bit helps to reduce taxable amount  :)

I know where my vote is regards screens.

I have an Android tablet that I barely use because I found I just couldn't get on with it somehow.. I guess it's a case of "what you know" - so even though the screen might not be quite so good (better resolution than my eyes, though! ;D) I'll probably go iPhone again..

Nokia are idiots. They had the whole Mraket in their hands and they blew it.
Why? Because they thought they couldn't be touched, and with no competition, at the time, thought it was ok to dump half arsed, incomplete, rubbish operating systems on their customers and have them develop out the million bugs for them. The only time a phone was usable was just before the next phone was released which instantly halted development, in favour of the new model.

Apple and others that followed, walked in, did a less advanced job, but it worked. No crashing. Barely any bugs. To this day crApple can't compete with, for one example, the blutooth functionality Nokia had 15 years ago. But what good is that if your Nokia crashes half way through every other time it's used.

IMO crApple are the equivalent of BMW. So you can imagine the pain I went though with Nokias last disaster the n900 which was the alleged replacement for the n95, that made me bin Nokia for the "Enemy".

The original IPhone was not even close to a smart phone by Nokia standards. Still isn't really. But the iPhone won't loose your data, your posts, texts and apps into thin air under normal basic use.

How I never smashed that n900 into a million pieces i will never know. And I'd happily own another Symbian device, IF it's proved to work reliably. But there is zero chance of that. Zero! IMO. :)

With Symbian, you could set an alarm then power the phone off. iPhones still cannot do that!

Symbian also was not built for touch screen & it shows!

touch screens only advantage is the bigger screen area, as theres no keys. And yes I guess that's why nokia came with Maemo os for touch screens?

Hmm. What chance does the new Nokia have, then?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19491421

It features a 4.5" screen and Windows 8, but sadly owning a Nokia is not cool these days...whereas owning anything Apple is, apparently. ::) ::)

Similar to owning a Vauxhall Omega, in its production days, which was very uncool, whereas owning a BMW was ultra cool (These days read Audi rather than BMW).

Either way brand image often trumps product quality.  :(

Nokia not cool eh, I reckon the next fad might be to run an old brick style phone, ie to be very retro. My son (18)had to have an iphone3, as expected broke very easily, then he bought a second hand blackberry that lasted about 3 months. He is now currently using my old Nokia 6210 Navigator.

So do we think we may see a revolt by the younger generation ? and a move away from chimping, I mean lets face it they hardly look cool while chimping.

Laura has just gone through the what phone shall I have debate....
moving from an old symbian SE Satio

Ruled out android, cos she just doesnt like how it works, and always seems to easy to move things around by mistake.

Every Iphone she has played with, she likes.

So thats what she got, Iphone4S, and loving it.

Whats has REALLY shocked me, is how much I like it, andhow it beats my aging android hands down.
I am now considering one myself, and thats shocked me even more!

I was never that interested in having the latest handset but having switched from a Nokia E71 to iPhone I can't see me ever wanting to go away from it. I've had a few plays with Android handsets and they just don't seem to work the way I want. I'm sure I could get used to it but why compromise and move away from something I've now got working how I like. The only complaint I have about my iPhone 4 is that it can be a bit slow with some of the work related apps I run in the background (like GPS Tracking) but as a general rule it just works. It's only my handset that has issues, possibly because it's 2 years old and heavily used with no storage space left on it at all. The lads handsets are only 8Gb versions and seem to be reliable enough :y

I'll see what sort of deal I can bully out of O2 when the time comes for me to change mine (and SWMBO's) and then decide whether I go for the 5 or the 4S :y

If the 5 is bigger than the 4 as rumoured, it's not for me. Although we don't know the functions yet.
There was talk of a mini iphone. Which might sway me. We'll see. :-\

Personally ive always thought the iPhone should have a choice of screen sizes ranging from 3.5" to say 4.5" and id go for 4.0"  :y

Galaxy SIII is way too big for me. The Nokias release yesterday, from the pics, look too big.

I wouldn't want to go any bigger than my current gayPhone (3GS).  Actually, other than its well over 2.5yrs old, big chunk missing from screen, the only thing extra I want from it is a bit more speed (iOS 5 is slow on a 3GS).

But until someone can release a usable email client on a usable alternative OS, I'm stuck.
