Have gone that route too.
Started off getting eyes tested - expensive (too me) prescription glasses, then mislaid them - got pair of cheapy ones which worked- now up to strength 3 , used to use Wilkinsons/asda but they got too expensive- poundland - so can break/lose without any worry - as usually have 2-3 spares in the car and elsewhere.
