sports injury
« on: 17 September 2012, 20:41:10 »

im gutted ....

well over the last month i have been on a health drive going to the gym 4-5 times a week rotating between weight trainingand then cardio. been loving it

well thursday last week was weights day and i slightly upd my weight by 2 kg and felt good during it and after. till that night and was stiff as hell :( took friday sat and sun as rest days and today decided to go for a run nothing major or fast on the tred mill well doing my shoe laces up in the changing rooms i could feel a slight twing in my but/thigh. thought it was just from last week and needed to stretch it out. so cycled down the gym bit sore but nothing major

walked on the tread mill to make sure i warmed up and there was no pain. as soon as i broke into a run something went twang in my butt/thigh area. tried to walk it off but ended up hobbiling so though i better stop mananged to get back to work. hobbled past and officer who ordered me to the medical centre, who have told me it looks like i have pulled my hamstring.

typical im gutted really gutted im meant to be doing my anual fitness test on thursday okay its early and i dont go out of date until the 4 oct but as soon as i can i will i CANT go out of date its not an option!

Sorry dear but if you felt it "twag", there is a good chance you have torn it  :(

Feet up and no jogging for a while  :y

Sorry, but it sounds like bad news and it will take time to repair, rest it as much as possible and use some Ibuofen cream.  :'(

Can't you go for an old fashioned military medical where you cough while the doctor is using his probe.  :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D

Eh, no  ::)

Keep off it if possible until it heals.
Even when it feels ok, take it very slow because hamstrings are tempermental buggers and tend to go again just when you think its all right  ;)

I put a 2 inch tear in mine 25 years ago (football).  Was a good boy and didn't kick a ball for 6 weeks.
Went out on the pish with the lads round cleethorpes and got chased by some bouncers down the front (not my fault honest)  ::) :D and ended up doing it again.  Spent 6 weeks on teabar duty with a pair of crutches  :'( :'(

Annual fitness test easily postponed by doctors if medically unfit to take it. Has no bearing on anything other than your recovery time .. which will be severely delayed if you attempt an AFT with a torn hamstring... in fact .. you could end up in plaster ......   :(

okay not such a good idea.  :'( wont be trying it i have 3 weeks.

did manage to see a doc today who didnt even look at me prescribed some stronger pain killers and told me under no circumstances am i to go running for at least a week then sent me back to work.

my boss wasnt too impressed and has sent me home to rest it which i am doing right now  :y :y  he said how can i reset it if i am walking around work. :(

i am really angry at myself everyone is taking the mic outa me i know they are joking but it still gets to me.

think im going to have a snooze not  feeling to good think the pain killers are kicking in x

I dont think you have 'torn' anything. I heard a sportsman on the telly saying that, when he tore a muscle, it felt like someone had shot him. I tore my calf muscle messing about with my lad in town. I did no more than break into a sprint from walking pace. BANG! I really did think someone had stabbed me. I couldn't walk more than a few yards and it took months to heal.
I've also pulled a hamstring and that sounds exactly like what you describe. It's painful, girl, and you won't run it off. Rest is the only option.

Oh, and a buttock massage from Den. ::)

agrree i reckon its just over stretched, which takes less time to heal then a tear thank god.

i cant walk properly let alone run at the moment some movement makes me feel physically sick and thats with the pain killers :'( :'(

2.5 k or the multi stage fitness test (MSFT) was planning on doing the MSFT which i normally piss al over. god last year i ran it with a chest infection and severe uncontrolled asthma. some how though i doubt i can pass it with a dodgy hamstring  :'( :'( :'(

i even told the doc today that i need to be fit in 3 wks to run again and he just srugged it off hes not very popular down there hes a civi doc and forgets we need a docs note for everything but i wallked out of there today expected to be able to crack on. which me being me will attempt to do. clearly thats not a good idea ether.

im back in work tomorrow am and will have no choice but to sit at my desk and crack on unless my boss thins me out again.  :-[ :-[ :-[
