Broadband Help Needed Please
« on: 31 October 2012, 10:33:03 »

Hi everyone.

I moved house on Sunday. What a nightmare!! :P :D :o

I rang sky to tell them a week in advance about the move and they have totally mucked up my broadband order for my new place.  After ringing them five times and being on the phone for ages they are now saying that the earliest they can install is 7th December. I told them I need it sooner and the 7th is no good so I'm left with no broadband and they said fine, go away then.

Does anyone know any other provider that is not too expensive and won't make me wait ages for installation? I can't afford high upfront charges as I'm buying Tall Paul's mig soon.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm currently using mobile broadband which is very expensive. :o

Sorry to here about your issues with Sky, can you PM me your address details (where your subscription was previously). Along with viewing card number if you have it, also a brief timeline of events. When you called up to request the move and so on, I'll raise it internally & aim to get someone to contact you within 48 hours

Other option is, if you have it in your area, install Virgin Media broadband much faster connection as well :y

As a temporary measure get hold of a T Mobile PAYGO Sim, and use the Text 441 Internet Booster add on -

£2.5 for 5 days
£5 for a month
£20 for 6 months.

Obviously not as good as good Broadband but will get you out of trouble with a 1 to 2mb throughput as Internet tethering.

BT are slow at the moment as well, which will affect anyone using BT Wholesale's FTTC service, be it BT Infinity or any other ISP using the same infrastructure.  The delay is with Openreach engineers.  Current wait for my area seems to be about 3 weeks :o

Due to woeful mismangement, coverage is poor in most areas, despite cables being randomly laid.

Thanks for all the help! :y

When someone moves house, would be normal to have a 6 week wait to have your services installed again?

Its only internet, its not important ;D

Utilities have a legal obligation, Internet providers are not covered...

Hi Kate,

I've heard back from the install teams, they have said that "Having looked into their account the provision of talk and BB in the London area is approximately 4 weeks, unfortunately, we cant bring any dates forward due to only using BT open reach and they were behind with recent weather conditions last month. BT are also have a long waiting list at present

I am sorry that we are unable to bring any dates forward as its outside our control."

So basically for BroadBand, we use BT, and we can only install them on the dates they provide, unlike TV where we have our own teams.

Hope this helps you understand the delay  :y
