So its been on the Tech2 a few times, but nothing ever showing apart from an occasional 55 - replace ECU.

Any suggestions as to why there were no fault codes shown on Tech II? When my CSS last failed, even thought the EML didn't light, it still flashed up code 19 on a paper clip test  :-\ :-\
Because the ECU never saw a "duff" signal. Its seemed it either worked or didn't.

So, a warning for V6 owners, if it is poor starting, and its not a leaky injector, be suspicious of the CS

Yep.. Mine showed exactly the same symptoms. A little lazy starting a couple of times, but no codes, then, one morning "Non!".

Sensor had gone open circuit, but if you banged it on the bench it would sometimes make contact.

Precisely ditto. Though I don't know of the sensor went open circuit - actually I think it's still dangling around by it's wire on the engine  :-[ ;D
