Take lots of photos when you take the heads off and have another look at the new oil cooler.
I wonder if you were sold a duff one?

if oilcooler as  all seem to think then please account for low compression on number 5 and 6 and the lovely blue smoke from exhaust at idle-up to 3000 rpm you could'nt see back of car!! maybe it was oilcooler then eh

well its in there had struggle with aircon but at least it wont need refill

thats stu trying to find his socket which fell

we left it pretty much like this while we had a break and decided to finish tomorrow

and coolant in the oil?
5 & 6 are rear cylinders of different banks so both head gaskets would have had to fail at the same time to give symptoms as described.
Lubrication failure (ie water in oil) might cause partial seizure of the pistons and cause the piston rings to stick in their grooves

well we did it

and as big yellow thing in sky was out-thought it best to remove oily paw prints

yes complete 2.5 engine!!!!!! and tons of parts squirreled away over the years of madness miggy ownership

I helped to rebuild a Mercedes truck engine once, and after it was rebuilt, back in and running we found a bowl with some knuts and bolts in!!    We didn't have a clue where they were from but the truck didn't seem to mind anyway!!

oh no mate we had no left over parts-makes a change-we worked as a team-Stu dealt with gear box/engine mounts Rick did power steering/aircon/ancillaries and I did engine prep
