Whats the issue you are experiencing?

A failed stat is often lazy, not opening fully, so engine temp won't be right, often running cool.

If you are getting no reading at-all on temp gauge & you've had work done, check the little brass connector has not fallen off at the back of the coolant bridge  :y

Done stat...took all day!!! MAF codes and fuel trim codes have now gone and EML has gone out....no I don't understand either lol but they have and with a Chinese MAF!!!
This temp sensor is the other one on the coolant bridge....apparently it helps the ECU determine fueling.
Symptons are bad hot or cold tickover for a few minutes but if I put in drive it'll pull away and clear up.
2. First startup of the day... starts n revs ok then bad tickover, strong petrol smell in the exhaust and MID Consumption drops drastically. But if I drive it this only drops by 0.1. However, if I let her tickover there is a sound of a solenoid working at the back of the plenum and tickover is simultaioniously OK.
3. Though the MID varies between 18.0 to 18.3 mpg for local driving it doesn't increase at all on a long run. The fuel gauge tells a somewhat different story of about 6/7mpg. Kev thinks air/vaccum leak but I can't find anything.
It used to rev upto 2k if I pumped the break pedal but that has now stopped.
The rev dial seems to lag behing the engine.
Thats about it. Bet you regret asking now lol

Your 2.6 is OBDII compliant. Almost any cheap code reader that can show live readings will show you what temperature the ECU temperature sensor is reading.

Seems silly to swap parts randomly when it is relatively cheap and easy to do get live data :-\

I have got the free version of http://torque-bhp.com/software/torque-android-obd2-adapters/ on my Android phone and a cheap adapter (£14) that lives in the arm rest. It can't programme anything but it does show live readings :y

I've got that too. You mean yours actually works? I got some results in the past but it's a bit hit and miss. It showed an injector pulse width of 73.3 just once, it told me the oil temp was -44 when cold and -22 when warm and got most other things and the coolant temp was showing as slightly hotter than the gauge.

I got the Vgate adapter which did work until today, but Torque can't find it anymore  >:(

So after looking on topbuzz I'm gonna put an amp/volt meter on and see what readings I get. I have a feeling that now the stat has been replaced and the engine is operating hotter, this temp sender is playing up.

Whilst I'm here. Where is the oil temperature sender/sensor please mate?

Ive tested Torque along side 'other proven readers' and torque is often wildly inaccurate.

I found it very good for reading and resetting codes, but take its live data with a pinch of salt.

I dont know how much of that is down to torque, and how much down to a cheap bluetooth adaptor...been meaning to play with other software, but never got around to it.

I don't think the Omega has got one. :-\

Torque is displaying generic OBD2 info. Manufacturers have to stick to the core set of OBD2 definitions but the results are a bit hit & miss once you get into the vehicle specific readings.
