Rolf Harris
« on: 19 April 2013, 15:45:55 »

In work this morning i mentioned to a work mate that Rolf Harris was the latest celebrity to be named in the Police investigation looking into sexual assaults on minors since the death of Jimmy Saville.

JESUS !!! he replied then standing there in complete silence we stared at each other and together both replied  surely not him as well.

Totally accept that this no joking matter but its gone on for so long now that's its no longer met with a great deal of astonishment and the joke of Jesus a bit of light humor in what is an all too serious world.

I agree, but I'm sorry I don't find any sort of allegation of abuse a subject to joke about. At the same time if others wish to make a joke out of it than that's fine by me :y

I hear and respect what you say Cleggy :y :y

It just emphasises how one persons joke can be another persons worst insult.  That is a fine line and really does show what the admins are grappling with at the moment.  Where do you draw that line? ??? ???

The point of the joke has little to do with (unproven) allegations, but is all to do with the fact that:

i) So many "names" are being investigated.

ii) People we held on pedestals as being paragons of virtue are being questioned.

It is not making light of any allegations, merely pointing out the bizarre nature of Operation Yewtree...it makes one wonder "Oh my God, Who next?" – hence the dry humour.

Even though I am a Christian (cue anti-religious rants!) and – like most – very much anti-paedophile, I do find the joke amusing.

Incidentally, Rolf Harris is innocent until proven guilty and I, for one, hope the allegations prove unfounded.  :y

Not crap...but

No, the box has behaved itself unbelievably for the last couple of months..absolutely spot on. I'm beginning to think there may have been debris caught in the selector, which has since dislodged itself. :y :y
