« on: 15 May 2008, 11:12:12 »

m8 has just rang, he bought a new set of alloys 2 weeks ago. car was on bricks when he got up this morning. phoned the police, they are too busy at moment to deal with it.  i can see the police car park from my window. 3 vectras in there and 2 dog patrol cars. car park looks full up to me :-? :-? :-? if he parks out front, key scratches, parks round the back, out of sight and. cant win.

What a b@stard.  You'd think there would be a decent chance of prints off the body work.   He didn't have locking bolts then?

They are only saying that because they know that unless someone comes into the police station, drops the alloys off with a note saying "these were stolen from Mr Smith of 123 High St. Contact number (mobile) 077123456 (work) 01 278 5848 (home) 01 278 5597", theyre not gonna be able to do anything.

Oh and if the above did happen then your m8 wouldnt see the alloys for at least 6 months in which time they would prob go missing anyway and in the end your mate would be told to phone the insurance.

so to save time use the police for all they are good for in these situations, ask them for a crime refrence number and contact the insurer.

Also a point for though, as the police dont, sorry, cant be bothered, oops i mean "dont have the resorces" to do anything in these situations, the only thing someone reporting a crime like this is doing is raising the insurance risk for the area (home, car etc) next year as these get added to the "crime statistics" which is how insurers calculate the risks.  :y

It would seem the Police are never "too busy" to issue speeding/parking tickets though..... ::)
I doubt if the recovery of stolen alloys form part of the government`s crime targets.  :-?

Aah -- but what you can't see from your window is that these vehicles are up on bricks cos someone has nicked their wheels !!!

Few years ago I had my stereo equipment stolen, police couldn't give give two hoots, said there was nothing they could do. I managed to find out who'd done it, I drove round there and sat outside. I phoned the police and told them I was going round their house with a sledgehammer to get it back and within 5 minutes there was 2 patrol cars there! Unfortunatly they had already sold it or where keeping it else where. Funny how they were too busy to go look for it but not too busy to come after me! Makes me sooooooo mad!  >:(
