In place of "Lizzie" though, as it would be my party anyway (
) I would add another Lizzie: Queen Elizabeth I. I would however leave out Mussolini as nothing he could say would interest me, as he became just a puppet of the Nazis.
I would love to "interview" each of these people, over a drink or two of course, and delve into their psychological thinking, their political philosophy, and why they took various decisions when they did.
On just that last element of my questioning for instance I would ask:
Stalin - Why did you enter into a pact with Hitler over Poland and not realise what would happen next? Why did you kill, through your command, so many Russians?
Hitler - Why did you invade Russia on the 22nd June 1941 when you had not defeated Great Britain in the West? Why did you declare war on the USA on the 11th December 1941, 4 days after Pearl Harbour, when you knew that the industrial might of that nation would tip the whole balance of the war in favour of Great Britain? Why could you not let your generals run the military side of the war, especially once you started to make such incredulous decisions that would eventually lead to your defeat? Why kill 6 millions Jews?
Elizabeth I - How did you remain so strong in a male orientated world? Would you have gone into battle at the front of your army, as the last monarch to do so, on the 9th August 1588 at Tilbury if the army led by Parma of Spain had stepped onto English soil? Did you compose your famous Tilbury speech before you went in front of your troops, or did you speak from the heart and compose it instantaneously whilst on your horse? Do you regret not marrying and having an heir to continue the Tudor line?
Oh, so many questions!! So much more to know that historians like Allison Weir, who specialises in the Tudor dynasty, and Sir Max Hastings and his like who specialise in WW2, would give their back teeth to have answers to!
