Auto gearbox different from previous mig
« on: 17 September 2013, 12:25:39 »

Alright everyone.

If I remember correctly my old auto mig when in normal drive used to change up around 2500 rpm when driven normally. My new one though changes around 3000 rpm. It's just had an ATF and filter change but it changes too high for me. Especially if I'm just pottering about.

I know they all do It when cold but is there a way I can reset its ecu to learn to adapt to my driving style.

Different ratio on 2nd gear on boxes for 2,5 and 2,6. This might explain your "feeling"  :y Also 2,6 engined cars have "shorter" diff ratio than 2,5 engined ones used to have.

Cheers for that.

Sometimes it's a bit indecisive in 1st gear and sometimes it bangs into gear? Only done it twice and it's not bad but you can tell its not smooth.

Only thing I thought was if I varied from light throttle to full then off very quickly it may not think quick enough.

They do thump into second sometimes, like if pootling I traffic and you throttle off just as it changes. All my omegas have done it.

The software on the drive by wires is a different version to the cable operated engines. So there will be subtle differences.

TB will probably tell you the later software is not as refined as it had less updates due to production ending. The pre face lift being in production longer, is allegedly more refined.
Can't say I've noticed myself though.

Having said that, AA had a problem with shift points on his 2.6 and changed the auto box ecu, which fixed his. For all us lot telling him it was fine. ::)

The 2.6/3.2 firmware isn't as refined as the latest 2.5/3.0 software. It does make a subtle difference in both change quality and the solidness of the drive powering out of slower corners.

Any misbehaving in the box, always check the level and fluid state.
