As im about to attempt 2 remove plenum,for the first time in 3 years of ownership my main concern how much to tighten new plugs by + is it alright to use a shot of Wd 40 on threads. I studied the Guides guys

New plugs should be tightened to 25nm.

The washers can take a little while to crush, so insert the plugs, torque them up, have a cuppa and then re-torque them, as otherwise, they can tend to work loose.

No real need to lube the threads, although if inclined to do so, I'd use a little copper grease, as WD40 won't help.

tighten by hand, then another 1/4 to 1/2 a turn of the plug

Very tempting Andy, but I work with 2in steel gas pipework,no torque wrenches here,seal it and lock it down Ah the joys of Mig ownership £30 to get oil+filter changed, £124 for Halfords 170 set and now Torque wrench, mind you it would have cost me a £100 er for decent jack + stands to lift that bus

I've worked on a lot bigger & smaller too 

....... 1/4 to 1/2 a turn is how a flat seat spark plug with a crush washer has always been tightened up to. If you try the same on a taper seat plug, you'll never get the bugger out again.

Cheers for that Andy, was nt sure to go el cheapo or mid range, Teng I think
on subject calibration, just got my Flue gas Analyser back. purchsed 2008 £650 calibrated every year £99 conveniently
