The problem is....................Dysons are shite. ;D
Funky looking things, but not much good at actually sucking up stuff from the floor. :)
I agree with the first bit, but not with 2nd. If your dyson is not sucking that well (as they do after a year or so), wash the filter as you're supposed to every few months, and get an airline on the cyclone to blow on the shite out. And unwrap Mrs TB's threads and craft crap from the brush bar ;D

Been to shops to buy some bits to repair it, needless to say Brackley DIY were closed, as I got there just gone 1pm, and its half day closing  >:(. So had to go to that pikey car shop in town.  Now need to wait for my best mate to come home from one of his classes, so I can go and nick some tools...

Internally Fractured mains lead or on/off switch - usual
Strangely enough, this one is on its original switch, 17(?) years old as a guess. One of the few original parts ;D

Trigger's broom?  ;D

Been through all that when we had one,but the fact is there are other brands out there that do the job much better whether brand new or several years old. Of course,it isnt easy to know that until you try something different to compare. ;)

Found our Dyson to be absolute crap :-\ it really didn't agree with dog hair, I guess being all plastic, the static stopped the cyclone in its tracks. Used to have to strip it every couple of months to unclog it ::) and yes the filters were changed regularly :P

The 1990 Electrolux the the Dyson was supposed to replace finally died last year when some tuesday (not me) used it to hoover some puke from their car. Paper bags aren't particularly water tolerant, let alone stomach acid proof >:(

A good friend of my eldest bro runs a hire shop. So, as my friggin' Dyson was bust at the time, over a pleasant keo beer and mousaka, we got chatting about what he hires out. I nearly fell off my chair when he says Dysons ;D.  Convinced he was pulling my plonker, I let him explain why - reliability (!!!!) even when abused, performance, and dead easy to fix/service. The first 2 being critical to him, as he doesn't want complaints, although the latter impacts profit as well.

Our festering old moggie causes the dyson much distress. I say get rid of the cat, but Mrs TB says I can go first ;D. I know my place ;D.

But a blast with the airline sorts it. Its due again, so I might have to pay BP 50p ;D

Our old vac lost a fight with a vegetable rack ::)

My 20 something year old Aquavac is still going strong, the carpet cleaning plastic bits have seen better days but still work and suction is 2nd to none. Only down side where it is an industrial style cleaner is that it is very noisy. It was also a good price where I got change out of £100, cheaper and much better than the VAX it replaced.  :y :y :y

Had Dyson's now for almost twenty years, in fact since the DC01 was launches in 1995.

I have always found them to be excellent, always functioning brilliantly, and lasting longer than my urge to 'update'.  Hence I have now just acquired my latest, a DC40 Animal which is even better than the earlier models, plus also buying a cordless version for the car, a DC34 which is equally impressive for what it is meant to do.

Having tried many vacuum cleaners before the age of Dyson, and used other people's various makes and types, I can fairly say Dyson are the best vacuums I have ever used.

Their wonderful hand dryers are also setting that market alight, ousting so many of the near useless hand dryers you found in the ladies that could hardly take the drops of water away from your hands! ::) ::) ::) ::)

Mrs Opti's uses an elderly DC01 Dyson.

It makes much more noise than it used to in it's prime, but then we use it for anything and everything, including cement dust. :y

Fully fixed and working again...  ...but she's not allowed to use it until the filter dries.

No further guesses as to the fault?
