All the time people pay that sort of money from him,he will keep selling them at those prices.

After all said and done he is in the business to make a profit, trouble is we know the true value in £,s and our prices are miles less than his.

Decent car though and very tidy, but plenty as good for less just possibly requiring a little work
Debateable. Depends whether selling or buying :-X ::)

I must contact Robber Budden and  ask him what my immaculate 53 plate MV6 is  worth to him. ::) ::)

I'm guessing at £495 for a £3495 ticket price. :-X

What's going on with that grill?

RB has a long standing contact at a VX dealer, who gives him the nod if an omega comes in on px. If RB doesn't buy it, it goes off to auction.

...he once told me anyway. Long time ago now. He turns up at auctions and private ads as well though. So there's hope Opti. ;)

£2000 of profit. Not a bad return for simply wiping it down with a damp cloth. :-\

What nobody has mentioned is that RB does have an excellent track record for after-sales support. In addition to that, he knows the Omega and all of its' foibles. Having worked on a few cars that have come through his hands, I know that they are sold with all the usual niggles fixed. I also know from those who have purchased from him that he's willing to rectify any post-sale niggles without quibble.

It costs him money to provide that sort of service where most 2nd hand car dealers would tart a car up with minimum expense and move it on, then start ducking and diving if the customer has problems.

Yet we compare his prices to cars sold on here or ebay, where there's no comeback whatsoever. ::)

Would I pay the premium and buy a car from him? Not sure. TBH, membership here means that any potential Omega problem is rendered insignificant by the knowledge available, but, for other buyers, that premium might be worth paying. If he weren't selling them he wouldn't pay to advertise them, after all.

I agree, Kevin. The omega is a fantastic car with a terrible reputation. If you can get hold of one that you know has been truly sorted, with a warranty to boot, the I feel people would be more likely to pay a fair price.
We are used to paying peanuts and expecting expensive problems, surely it would be preferable to pay a premium for a car that's had it all done.
If I wanted an omega and RB was nearer to me, I would pay his price and also try to get him/his mechanic to maintain it for me. No doubt if you fell out of love with it, he would take it off your hands....and Mark it straight back up again. ;D

Perhaps so, Kevin. However, I still consider Robber Budden's 'mark up' to be excessive in the extreme.

Personally, I would avoid him like the plague should I be looking for another Omega. :y

Horses for courses, I suppose. :)

Fair enough. My point is that that markup doesn't (all) go straight into his pocket in the way it does to an ebay seller. Whether you wish to pay it depends on your attitude to the relative risks.

The other point to mention is that he clearly has contacts who can still turn up Omegas in decent condition and low mileage. Mine is at 160k now, and shows no signs of becoming a liability yet, but, when it does, and assuming I decide to replace it like with like, I suspect I won't be tripping over 3.2 MV6s with 60k on the clock for sale. If he turned one up I might be prepared to pay a premium for it, if it was the right car, simple because he has access to the right car and nobody else does.
