I watched an item on BBC1 news this morning about 6.50 a.m. UK time. Declan had an expert from a major bank saying that although factory input prices were up 19% I think and output prices were up 7% owners were under pressure to not raise their prices. We the consumer also must not pay increased prices otherwise that will fuel inflation. I can't see someone going to say a pump manufacturer and saying no it was £200 last month that is all I am paying.

To cap it all (I am 99%) certain the guy said the following.

The average spend on food in the UK is FOUR percent of your pay.

I think he meant 40%. Most of my spend seems to be on food and drink.

I feel very very sorry for elderly people or people on fixed low incomes. I just can't see this or any other government giving pensioners a 10%  rise next year to combat food, gas and electric increases among others.
