Being as my drink driving thread has got you wound up....try chewing on this one....
This is an excert from a petition or share thing going round on facebook...

'Pampered peers refused to cut their catering budget because they feared it would mean drinking cheap Champagne.

The House of Lords has bought more than 17,000 bottles of bubbly in the last four years at a cost of more than £260,000 - enough for the 788 peers to have five bottles each a year.

But a cost-saving plan to share food and drink costs with the House of Commons was binned because they feared it would mean quaffing less luxurious brands.

The Lords refusal to downgrade was revealed by Sir Malcolm Jack, clerk of Commons between 2006 and 2011, as he gave evidence to a committee looking at how the palace of Westminster should be run.

Sir Jack told MPs: “The Lords feared that the quality of Champagne would not be as good if they chose a joint service.”

Committee chair Jack Straw was so gobsmacked, he asked Sir Malcolm: “Did you make that up? Is that true?”

Sir Malcolm replied: “Yes, it is true.”

Don't care who anyone votes for, as long as a) they vote, b) they don't vote Labour, and c) there's a box marked None of the Above.

All three points are equally valid, but c) is critical as it would then enable the apathetic to have their say. A majority vote for None of the Above would force a hung parliament, meaning that MPs would have to work for their constituents in order to get things done.

Far more productive than giving the vote to some spotted yoof who can barely tell the difference between a girl and an Xbox. (I knew Milliband was struggling, but increasing the electorate by allowing kids to vote is as stupid as it sounds).

What Milliband has failed to realise, is that any youngsters interested in voting will all vote for anything but Labour...

Actually I don't.  Todays first time voters will have grown up with the BBC's (and others) slant on austerity, cuts, cuts and more cuts, without a great deal of understanding of the bigger picture, because it hasn't been presented in context.
