Although crude oil stocks are high, US shale producers have been shutting down rigs and laying off their workforce as shale production is uneconomic while crude oil is so low.  I wonder how quickly the Yanks can start up the mothballed rigs again when the price of crude rises, due to the tail off in production. 

Presumably the Saudis are watching US production like hawks, ready to cut their own production when a certain amount of US rigs have shut down.     If that happens expect crude to rocket back to $100 or so and fuel at the pumps to rise accordingly.
