There was a nice red VXR8 at the pistonheads Sunday service - it did look very nice, I must admit.. If I wanted something large, four seat, tunable and V8 then I'd definitely have it on my list.

Get one bought and move on from the Omega forever Chris :p
Well, ignoring double the bhp of the omega for a minute.

Would I be pleased with it? Yes.
Would I be pleased with it having spent something in the order of 15k for one with less than 50 thousand miles on it. I'm not so sure. I really am not.

But then, can't take the money with you. And in a few years we'll be forced down the autonomous route anyway. We'll be proper oppsed then. :(

I know I've said it on here before but my 2.6 is the nicest driving car I've ever had , I have been fortunate to have had only one repair in just over 4 years HBV,  bought with 50,000 miles on the clock 1 owner with full history now on 90,000 & now only doing about 4,000 miles per year , makes me smile every time I drive it.

Touch wood, eeyore has been uber reliable of late. I keep him in nice new oil which is free for me at the garage  :)

I still feel that there's a lack of oomph before I hit 4k rpm when the rear multi ram kicks in. But its not bad enough to have to go through all the vac system again to fix it. Although interestingly the 0-60 time seems right. So maybe I'm imagining it. Or if not. Who cares. It runs nice. Bloody comfy and lovely to drive.

Must clean him though. . . Had a pigeon fly in to the drivers door window and left a oppsing great pigeon print  ;D

My current 3.2 Omega is the longest I've ever kept a car. It slumbers about on its elite suspension (all replaced for new in the past year) and when the tyres get low on tread it tramlines like an arse. I regularly use my other car, which is much much more economical, much faster, has better brakes and handles brilliantly, but I still like driving the Omega. When I switch cars, the Omega is like a big old airbed compared to the rigid suspension of the other one, but I never tire of driving it. After a period of pootling around I thought I'd give it an airing, and it actually still goes remarkably well.  :y I've had it from nine months old and it's just turned 80K.
Must admit, although I've always worked on my own cars, the forum has given me inspiration to sort any issues, so this may be a big factor in keeping it for so long.  :y
It is the oldest car I've ever owned but it's a comfy old barge so I'll hang on to it for as long as I can. I very much still enjoy driving it.  :y

Seriously. Thanks to them. :)

A mate has just spent 40k on a 535. Year old. Less than 10 thousand miles. Variable sports ride suspension. Hard drive head unit. 600+nm of torque or whatever it is. Very very nice. 60k car for 40k etc etc...

...but 40 grand. On a car! Christ almighty.

Yup I know what you mean Chris although I have recently brought a Monaro I am in no hurry to get rid of 3.2 Omega as it is comfy and relatively quick and smooth has all the toys, I just don't want to lose it.  :y

Absolutely adore Pissy (P151 HOH, always known in the family as 'Pissy Ho') and delighted that she's back on the roads where she belongs.

Black outside, black interior, everyone seems convinced I've got a newer, and different car, I have to explain to them with a serious face that this is older than the car she replaces, and a pre-facelift, hence the massive differences in the interior. The leather on the doors and overall 'ambiance' is just fabulous, and beats hands down father's Insignia, and reminds me how nice a 90s car interior can be, with nice spongy seats, too  :y

But if he has the money to spend then whats the issue? Why drive around in a £1k car that could break down or go up in flames at any moment. And require repairs which if done in a Vx dealership will probably be more expensive than the BMW.

If you are handy with a spanner, then the Omega may be the right car for you. If you have a friendly OOFer near you who can help with repairs, then again it may be the car for you. For someone with a busy lifestyle with no time to faff around with repairs the BMW might be a better choice.

My Omega is misfiring, has a leak somewhere in the roof and has irritating rattly door pins. Presently I am thinking of driving it off a cliff!

Would it get as far as the cliffs? Fair old journey. ;D
