Without going into the detail ....

Estimated petrol costs  = 26.37 pence /mile

Actual LPG costs = 15.73 pence / mile

Saving 10.64 pence / mile or 40.35%

So .. in 2 months, 1907 miles I have saved £202.83

The estimated costs are based on 18 mpg towing, 23 mpg solo and an AVERAGE cost of petrol of 118.9 pence/litre

To me it just proves I made the right decision, LPG is costing me 57.4 p/ltr locally, although on the way to the lakes meet I got it for 52.9 at Morrisons in Leyland

30mpg is quite respectable mpg, you won't get much more unless you go tin can size.

Talking Corsa / Punto ect, friend of mine has a 55 plate Punto, gets 50mpg everyware in it.

Its no omega though, when i go on holidays, my car has to be used as it can take 4 people and 4 lots of luggage.

Anyone else feel like parting with their car for something that runs a fair bit more economically??

At an average of 29.9mpg since I have had her (6 months), I am finding the rising fuel costs a tad crippling, and as such am considering selling my rather lovely Omega for something a little less juicy.  Fuel has gone up over 20% since I bought the car, it's way beyond a joke now.

 :-? I wish ;D ;D ;D
No sorry but have bought a motorbike to hopefully save some money on fuel when going to work :y

A common thing with lower mpg seems autos???

My 2.5 manual returns anything from 25 to 32 mpg depending on how I drive it.

The wife's 1.6 Focus averages mid to high 30s.

For the size weight  comfort available load space v 25 to 32mpg even at present costs etc I'm keeping my mig until Gormless Brown raises road taxes too high...then I might get a tax exempt 2500PI Estate and transplant Mig drive train!!!

I put £10 of diesel in yesterday, I got 7.2 litres, just over a gallon and a half. As much as I love Omegas the next one will have to be diesel, manual, a 2.2, and very cheap to buy. The oveall cost is very important and that includes the purchase price. Currently waiting on just such a car. I work in used car sales and nobody is buying big cars, consequently they are plummeting in value.

Ride it out cos the fuel has to come down at some point. Some members may now think i am on the glue but i do think it will plus the bigger cars are not selling well at the mo so you could stand to loose a lot of money selling it just to buy a car that you might not like and try to save £10 a week on fuel.
Have a good long think about it but i can tell you now my two migs are staying :y
