A member of staff was claiming they now no longer need receipt on lifetime warranty stuff, but do send it off to manufacturer, who send replacement back to store. Less convenient :(

But he might have been talking 'dangle berries'.

Yup.

Depends who you speak to weather it needs a receipt or not.  The view of our shop is that its stamped Halfords and therefore it could only have come from us (OK you could have stolen it etc., but it hasn't come from Morrison's for example).

In theory if its the ratchet that is broke we have replacement ratchet innards that can be replaced on the spot, if its a damaged socket just swap them out and if all else fails split a set to get the relevant pieces.  There is a spares company who is tasked with keeping every spare part needed for anything we sell from ride on toys to individual sockets but they are a pain to deal with.

Like everything in life, there are people who are happy to help and try and others who seem to revel in making things hard.  For goodness sake its not hard to process a sale through the till and then return it to swap your bits but some don't want the hassle!

that's fine.  Like I said its not really needed.  It all depends on if the person you are speaking to in the shop is old school Halfords or not.

One thing I will say is that if you have reason to complain is NOT to complain to the store as the complaint is not logged and therefore there is plenty of scope for said complaint to disappear, complain in writing to customer services or speak to them on the phone.  The complaint is sent to the shop via the area manager who will then make sure its resolved and the shop in question will get it marked against their performance figures (and ultimately bonuses).
