I know a few of you here have Mercs, where do you go for new genuine parts? (other the dealer obviously!)

I'm after the bonnet 3 pointed star, the raised up 'traditional' not the newer flat one. It will be fitted to a '14 Plate E250 Saloon, I've run Mercedes Brentford and they want £51 inc Vat for one.

Thanks  :y

IMO that's not a bad price for a genuine merc part.
They are sprung loaded and designed to give way, in case of impact of a pedestrian perhaps.....something cheap copies might not do  ;)
The facelift W212 is only sold with the Sport nose here, so 8" star on grill and a flat badge on bonnet... ROW got a choice according to model, so either Sport as above or traditional grill/emblem combo.

Pre and Post facelift bonnet panels might just be the same, but if you put the 3d badge on a facelift car, the first question people will ask is why the bonnet needed replacing...

Need to be specific Tunnie so that you can be advised according to what you're trying to achieve... ::)

If you're looking to replace the flat emblem with the 3d star, then you need to either special order it at your dealer, or buy abroad.

Yes it's a fair point, to be honest I was expecting it to cost 3 figures from MB

Specific parts like that are very often cheaper at the dealers than  some of the other suppliers. People assume that the indie suppliers will be cheaper, when all they've done is buy them from Mb anyway & put their mark up on

Indeed, genuine parts compare well with GM/Ford for service items :y

Almost as if they're bought from the same specialist manufacturers!

3D star on bonnet replacing flat star, I rang Merc dealer and quoted the Reg. They said as per first post its £51, no special order required. Carried in stock  :y

That's good, as it suggests that the post facelift bonnet is the same as the pre facelift one... which has potential  :y

Re reading it, I can see that... it didn't make sense on the back of a 30 hour day and seemed, (still does), wrong :-\

Would look better if you go the whole hog and fit the facelift Elegance grill to replace that pig ugly front end we got...

Perhaps if it was my own car, but this is not mine and we have a bespoke reason why it needs the 3D star.  :)
