Is There a Cooling System for the Radio???
« on: 04 January 2017, 07:01:17 »

Hello

As now installing this

http://www.instructables.com/id/MP3-input-for-CDR2005-Radio-and-CD-unit/

I am presently  driving without radio. I found I rubber hose (perhaps diameter 20) in the radio location inside dash blowing cold air although the heater is blowing hot. Is there really a cooler for radio or should this rubber hose be installed somewhere else.

Early cars put the cold air into the glove box. Later cars do direct it to the back of the radio but I don't know of anything for the pipe to connect to.

Pipe is correct, and connects to nothing. Does get quite chilly without the radio in place ;) a bit of rag in the hole will help with the draft...

It's there to aid the cooling of the HU, as they produce a lot of heat in a small space.

A Peanut fits in the pipe nicely and works well, thats what I used a few winters back when it was freezing cold.

Then when youve done that, you need to work out how to fix the cold air coming through the Drivers inner door handle area, because someone has had the door panel off.
