Brembo ones on offer at ecp ( use the code  "weekend 55" ) about £130  they also have pagid ones cheaper.
Thanks for that mate, just been on ecp web site. They don't do a disc and pad set,and the pads they have will fit my car.But the discs are vented i need solid,so it looks like i will have to use vauxhall.I looked on ebay but none of them are compatible to my car.Dean.
Your front discs should most definitely be VENTED :o
Dont  know if they should be,but they were solid when i brought the car.So 4 years ago solid discs and pads were fitted.Dean.
That is seriously not right if true. Dangerous too if the callipers are original... as the pads wear they become thinner... fitting narrower discs can cause the pads to fall out when they get to around 60% worn. Also the pistons can be pushed out far enough to leak. Whoever fitted the discs wants shooting. Twice.

Hi mate, don't know what you mean by your comment(if true)are you calling me a lire. The discs were solid when i bought the car,so just changed like for like. The calipers are original and the pads have not fell out,or leaked.I will check with vauxhall if they are supplying me with vented or solid,as they never said on the phone.Dean.

All omegas except the 8v 2.0 use the same, 296mm from memory, vented disks.
If thats not what you have, someone has put something different / wrong on there at some point.
It may be worth uploading a photo of what you have as if other bits have been changed too, you could have a world of grief finding like for like or returning to original spec.
For the rears, only the later cars had vented disks.

Also just to add, when we say vented we mean the gap between the two discs. Not as in holes drilled though, like more modern vented ones.

Because that's "Cross Drilled" not vented ;)

Solid means just that. No venting, no drilling.
Vented means two disc surfaces with an air space between them.
Drilled means holes drilled through the disc faces.

Both available independently  ;)

Not calling you a liar, it's just that fitting the discs from an early 1.8 Carlton, or worse still, a pair of Omega rear discs :o, would be such a backward step that I am reluctant to believe it to be the case. :-\

but it has been known for a garage to fit older solid discs to the back of a 3.2/2.6 and as said above, when the pads wear a little, they try to escape the caliper followed by brake fluid.

Just ask Mike Dundee .....

This is because the inner face is in the same position but solid discs are a full 8mm thinner... an extra 8mm of travel on the outer piston/pad just to reach the disc. The piston leaking and the pad falling out probably happen simultaneously  :o

Not helped by not being able to buy new/refurbished vented calipers... The only reason a later V6 should have solid rear discs is if one of the calipers needs renewing ;

Fortunately, despite being in a field in the middle of nowhere, OOF managed to get it sorted :y

moggy - all Omega front discs are vented.

Pre 1998 2.0l are 286mm, all others are 296mm

Solid discs will likely be narrower, so need different calipers for safety reasons.  Also, solid discs cannot dissipate heat as well, and stopping a 2 tonne lump generates a lot of heat.

Please go and double check and even photograph what you have, then we can advise :y

A picture paints a thousand words and all that... in order to best advise you, we need to see exactly what is fitted ;)

Hi mate,i will try to put some pictures up but just to clarify.Approx 4 years ago i ordered new discs and pads from Andy c who worked at a vauxhall parts department.I was with my mechanic when he fitted them, the ones he took off were defiantly solid. And the ones that were supplied were solid. So i don't know what happened before i brought the car, maybe the calipers were changed to accommodate this.I will speak to vauxhall on Monday and ask what they are supplying, but if you are saying solid is wrong.I don't really know where to go from here,do i ask for vented or solid. :-[ :-\.Dean.
