I’ve just got my Omega back from a lengthy bodywork restoration and respray. All is good apart from the airbag light being on. I can’t get it back to the guy for a couple of weeks so wondered if there was something likely I could check. The obd 2 won’t clear it.

Light is most likely on because an airbag or pretensioner.circuit was disconnected with the ignition on.

That doesn't answer the question. I was hoping for something more specific so as to identify the probable cause.

To be clear and to preempt the abuse from those that will do so without contribution, the above is to say:

And work on the front doors will affect the side impact sensors. If the front seats are removed then that's both the pretensions and side airbags. And if the dash has come out then that's both front airbags. And the centre console would affect the main airbag ECU.

It's also possible, although I haven't seen any that there are crash sensors in the front end, but I don't think the Omega is that clever.

Point being of any of that has been disturbed, damaged or unplugged and the ignition then switched on, the airbag light will be on until the fault is fixed and it is reset.

Is there a switch for the passenger side airbag? I’ve never seen one.

The side airbags and the passenger airbag are two separate things triggered by two separate devices.

The passenger dashboard airbag and drivers steering wheel air bag are triggered by the airbag ECU.

The side airbags have pressure switches in the door. Little blue bozx attached to a metal plate.This is also why it is so important to refit the membrane of there's anything done behind the door card.

The seatbelt pretensioners are controlled by the front airbags via the ECU. They should fire a nano second before the front bags are triggered but not the side airbags.

It needs a code reader capable of reading the SRS system. Anything else is pissing in the wind.

Hopefully, if it was just an inn on event with an airbag or sensor disconnected, it will just reset. But that's can't be ascertained without reading said codes.

Anyone here have one, or know of someone who does? I’m going to be taking it back to the guy who did the work but presumably he won’t be able to turn it off without said reader anyway. I’m happy to travel to someone who knows what they’re doing.

when i accidently turned on my ignition a few years ago with a footwell plug undone i got the airbag light and just took it to my local garage that i use for mots and they turned it off but thats in halifax so no use to you ! but my point is that many normal garages may have the relevant  machine to read / turn it off .      BUT  worth asking the bodyshop ehere you hadxit if they unplugged anything anywhere ??

Yes, any garage class dings tool should be able to do the SRS on any car
