1997 2.5 V6 DIS pack
« on: 05 February 2025, 12:55:15 »

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new DIS pack for my 1997 (P) Omega 2.5 V6.

Trouble is, as I understand it, there are 3 versions:
 - 90 444 184 for the early models
 - 90 511 450 for the interim models
 - 90 541 062 for the later models

I don't think my car is late enough to have the later version as it is a pre-MFL 1997 update version, I similarly wouldn't have thought it would have the early type, but I don't want to buy the interim version on intuition, and turn out to be wrong.

Would someone be able to offer more insight (hopefully a definite answer!) about which is the right one for my car?

Thank you in advance.

There is a guide in the Guides section about the different types and how to tell which :y

The only way to know for certain which coil pack is fitted is to pull it and check the part numbers.
However assuming your car is a Model Year '97 then it very likely has the latest variant which is 90541062.

You won't find the original Bosch coil pack that's Made in Germany, production likely ceased 25 years ago when the 2.6 & 3.2 were introduced. Now they're made in Slovenia, if they're even still made at all. I suspect that anything available is actually old stock.

Here's a link to Autodoc.

There's actually three variants.

Bosch part number 0221503017 (GM# 90541062) has the harness plug at the end of the unit in the same orientation as the plug lead pillars. The harness connector has oval ends as in the picture here. This is the most recent design. And was in use on MY '97 cars produced from around August 1996 onwards.

Bosch 0221503010 (GM# 90511450) has the connector in the same place as the one above, however the connector has square ends.

Bosch 0221503002 (GM# 90444184) also has a flat ended harness connector, however the connector is positioned on the wall of the unit at 90° to the plug lead pillars.

I imagine the only functional difference between them is the harness connector shape and the mounting orientation. I'd be looking for a genuine Bosch part that matches the one on the car. Most of the clones are short lived and these are a bit of a PITA to replace.
