Yes, we certainly saw the real Trump; a bully, a bore, a disrespectful bastard that many Americans knew already, but still voted for him!!!

He thinks his business skills will always win the day, although his diplomatic skills that is a must for any country leader, especially the USA, is zero as we witnessed.  This man is a monster and is very dangerous for the democracies of the World.  As many Americans in federal jobs are finding out, he only wants Trump “yes” men, and perhaps women, around him.  As I have said before, just like Hitler he wants to dictate everything and sod anyone who stands in his way as expected in a democracy.  He wants to support Putin rather than the man who has led his country through the hell that only Putin wants to achieve his evil aims.  And Trump calls Zelenskyy a dictator!!!
 

I am fuming, and so I am making this rare outburst.

Assuming that there is a ceasefire, Europe is going to have to police it. Good luck with that. Both sides will be trigger happy for years. Ukraine to get back what they see as theirs and Russia what they see in law as theirs. That is what their constitution says.

So Europe will have tens of thousands of troops there forever. Conscription or national service?

I think the lights will burn brightly in the corriders of power all across Europe and beyond tonight .
I'm now beyond confinced that putin has trump well and truly under his control.
In trumps first tenure russia was flying high awash with rubles and dollars so the demands were tolerable and largly unnoticed .
russia is in a perilous state economically and not winning the war against a smaller neighbour .
This time putins demands were simple and desperate in that trump had to dance from day one to allow him to defeat Ukraine and frighten NATO into believing that it was all powerful again....or else .
My belief is that what we witnessed was also fully planned to completely embarrass Macron and Starmer( and that oaf lammy )  who basicaly waved a piece of paper in their hand when they got home stating " I have in my hand ........" They should rightly feel utterly humiliated.
Special relationship ? ... that was erased  tonight .
I wish I could figure what the people of America feel tonight after watching that utterly unedifying spectacle .
I truly believe that we are more than one step closer to a European war now with an emboldend russia ,probably within 5 years , and possibly armed civil unrest in America .
It's like reading the history of the events leading to WW1 and 2 .
None of us will win from this .

It was very informative to hear the BBC talking to Mr John Bolton, a former advisor to the Trump administration.  He couldn’t have been more damming about the “performance” we witnessed by Trump and his side kick, yes man, Vance.  He said he was very worried for the future of not only Europe and Ukraine, but the USA itself.  He reckoned this really does the future of NATO in doubt, with a tremendous danger to all.

Everyone has got an opinion, everyone is entitled to that opinion. But I honestly don't think any one of us has really got a clue exactly what the fùck is going on. Trump just changes like the flick of a switch, no one can predict what's going to come out of his mouth.
I'll keep my opinions to myself for now, and watch. Apart from the possibly tragic outcome, it really is fascinating stuff.

For all his posturing, Zelenskyy is grudgingly aiming for a ceasefire as a compromise to appease the suppliers of arms rather than a total end to the stalemate they call a war.

The reality is that he's not prepared to concede anything to anyone. And that's a problem.
